This is a specialist administrative role within the Ministry of Justice, supporting the Security Intelligence Department in delivering an effective intelligence system.
Key Responsibilities- Intelligence Analysis: Analyze and evaluate intelligence information to inform decision-making and prevent security breaches.
- Reporting: Produce a monthly Intelligence Report and disseminate it as required.
- Communication: Regularly update line management on local security issues and intelligence received.
- System Maintenance: Ensure the security intelligence system is updated and maintained.
- Information Management: Check security information, determine importance, and recommend responses.
- Target Setting: Collate and distribute monthly targets for searching and mandatory drug tests.
- Training: Deliver in-house training in intelligence-related procedures.
- Liaison: Liaise with other establishments and external agencies to disseminate intelligence.
- Advice and Guidance: Provide advice and guidance to the Security Manager.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor the Regulatory Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) and Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS) procedures.
- Prisoner Communications: Monitor prisoner communications in line with relevant policies.
- Corruption Prevention: Support the Establishment Corruption Prevention Manager.
- Secure Fax: Act as the liaison for the BRENT secure fax.
- ViSOR: Act as point of contact for all Violent and Sex Offender Register (ViSOR) issues.
- Counter Terrorism: Liaise with external stakeholders regarding Counter Terrorism and Extremism.
- Prisoner Interviews: Interview prisoners where intelligence suggests they may be the victims of extremist bullying.
- Covert Testing: Brief and liaise with residential units regarding covert testing.
- Subject Profiles: Compile and keep up to date "subject profiles" on any Terrorism Act (TACT) prisoners.
- Extremist Content: Assess any seized items for extremist content.
- Reports: Compile and complete reports on TACT or Security Threat Group prisoners.
- Administrative Tasks: Organise, produce, and maintain accurate records.
- Communication: Act as contact point for all communications to the Team.
- Monitoring: Complete monitoring returns for the area of work.
- Finance: Input requisitions on the finance database.
- Awareness Sessions: Co-ordinate awareness sessions.
- Paperwork: Prepare paperwork for checking by their manager.
- Correspondence: Correspond with relevant stakeholders.
- Databases: Maintain and check establishment databases and filing systems.
- Information: Collate information on relevant Service Delivery Indicators (SDIs).
- Meetings: Arrange meetings including preparation of paperwork, minutes, and action points.
- Technical Skills: Job holders must complete specific training in their administrative specialism once they take up post.
- Assessment: When transferring to a Young Persons establishment, the job holder will be required to successfully undertake an assessment to demonstrate suitability to work with Young People.
- Ability: Able to deal effectively and assertively with staff at all levels.
- Software Skills: Able user of MS Word and MS Excel.
- Information Analysis: Information collation and analysis.
