Job Summary:

This is a specialist administrative role in an establishment, providing support to the Security Intelligence Department and assisting the Head of Security in delivering an effective intelligence system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyse and evaluate intelligence information to inform decision-making and prevent security breaches.
  2. Produce a monthly Intelligence Report and disseminate it within the establishment.
  3. Regularly update line management on local security issues and intelligence received.
  4. Ensure the security intelligence system is updated and maintained.
  5. Check security information, determine importance, and recommend responses.
  6. Collate and distribute monthly targets for searching and mandatory drug tests.
  7. Deliver in-house training in intelligence-related procedures.
  8. Liaise with other establishments and external agencies to disseminate intelligence.
  9. Provide advice and guidance to the Security Manager.
  10. Monitor the Regulatory Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) and Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS) procedures.
  11. Monitor prisoner communications in line with relevant policies.
  12. Support the Establishment Corruption Prevention Manager.
  13. Act as the liaison for the BRENT secure fax.
  14. Act as point of contact for all Violent and Sex Offender Register (ViSOR) issues.
  15. Liaise with external stakeholders regarding Counter Terrorism and Extremism.
  16. Interview prisoners where intelligence suggests they may be victims of extremist bullying.
  17. Brief and liaise with residential units regarding covert testing.
  18. Compile and keep up to date "subject profiles" on any Terrorism Act (TACT) prisoners.
  19. Assess any seized items for extremist content.
  20. Compile and complete reports on TACT or Security Threat Group prisoners.

Administrative Tasks:

  1. Organise, produce, and maintain accurate records.
  2. Act as contact point for all communications to the Team.
  3. Complete monitoring returns for the area of work.
  4. Input requisitions on the finance database.
  5. Co-ordinate awareness sessions.
  6. Prepare paperwork for checking by their manager.
  7. Correspond with relevant stakeholders.
  8. Maintain and check establishment databases and filing systems.
  9. Collate information on relevant Service Delivery Indicators (SDIs).
  10. Arrange meetings including preparation of paperwork, minutes, and action points.

Technical Requirements:

Job holders must complete specific training in their administrative specialism once they take up post.

  • Able user of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Information collation and analysis.
