Position: Outfit Engineer
Outsource UK Limited is collaborating with a prominent defense contractor to seek an Outfit Engineer for a contract role.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates available.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will possess a solid understanding and practical experience in naval and/or commercial ship outfitting systems, with the capability to assist in system and spatial integration challenges across various engineering disciplines.
The outfitting responsibilities encompass the design or management of:
  • Deck finishes, Coatings, Insulation & Linings
  • Access Points, Hatches, and Scuttles
  • Living Quarters and Sanitary Areas
  • Medical Facilities
  • Ship Access & Egress (including doors, hatches, ladders, etc.)
  • Evacuation & Safety Equipment
  • Escape Routes
  • Catering, Kitchen & Laundry Facilities
  • Office Spaces, Storage (including refrigerated) & Workshops
  • Human Factors Considerations
  • Damage Control & Portable Firefighting Equipment
  • Procurement Packages for Equipment
  • Regulatory Frameworks: Defence Standards, Lloyds, Naval Regulations, Compartment and Product Safety
Required Skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of Detailed Design Specifications
  • Experience in an Outfit Ship Design setting
  • Background in engineering or a defense-related sector
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling (view-only)
  • Adept at conducting analyses using established analytical tools and making informed decisions
  • Demonstrates adaptability in response to significant changes
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD or FORAN is advantageous
