Small Arms Specialist – HMS NELSON

Job Summary
The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Small Arms Maintainer to join our team at HMS NELSON. As a key member of our armoury team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of small arms equipment, ensuring 85% availability across all weapon outfits.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the correct issue and receipt of all weapons and ancillaries, including timely preparation, delivery, and collection of assets.
- Conduct routine inspections and assurance visits by Navy Command and Small Arms School Corps.
- Monitor AinU levels and compile timely and accurate assessments of equipment.
- Manage and control all weapon outfits, including Specialist Tools and Testing Equipment (STTE).
- Maintain and prepare 3lb saluting platforms at 6 hours notice to fire in direct support of national events.
Requirements
- Experience in maintaining British Armed Forces personal weapon systems, ideally holding a RN Advanced Small Arms Maintainer, Armourer 2, or Service equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of policy and process in maintenance and provision of small arms, including recording of equipment transactions between units and knowledge of civilian firearms control regulations.
- Ability to work independently and lead personnel as required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Sharepoint, Teams, and Office.
