The HM Inspectorate of Prisons is seeking a Communications Officer to join its small, busy communications team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation and development of the Inspectorate's communications strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Media work: answering incoming media enquiries, drafting and issuing media releases, and providing support to the Chief Inspector or other spokespeople.
- Social media and website: creating and publishing content on the Inspectorate's website, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts, and working with the research and data team to present data in informative and effective ways.
- Publications: managing a programme of report production, including allocating reports to a team of fee-paid editors, proof-reading, and editing.
- Events and stakeholder engagement: supporting the delivery of events, briefing the Chief Inspector or other speakers, and working with the policy team to support effective stakeholder engagement.
- Internal communications: helping to manage the Inspectorate's programme of internal communication, including the intranet.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small team. They will also have a strong understanding of social media and website analytics, and be able to evaluate user journeys and implement improvements.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, busy communications team and contribute to the development of the Inspectorate's communications strategy.
