Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Small Arms Maintainer to join our team at HMS NELSON. As a key member of our naval base, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and availability of small arms systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on small arms systems to ensure 85% availability
  • Manage the issue and receipt of all weapons and ancillaries, including timely preparation, delivery, and collection of assets
  • Stay up-to-date on weapons maintenance policy and procedure to ensure successful routine inspections and assurance visits
  • Monitor AinU levels and compile timely and accurate assessments of equipment
  • Manage and control all weapon outfits, including Specialist Tools and Testing Equipment (STTE)
  • Maintain and prepare 3lb saluting platforms at 6 hours' notice to fire in direct support of national events
Requirements

We are looking for an experienced small arms maintainer with a background in maintaining British Armed Forces personal weapon systems. Ideally, you will hold a qualification such as RN Advanced Small Arms Maintainer, Armourer 2, or Service equivalent. You will also have a history of employment with either the British Army Small Arms School Corps or as a Royal Navy Weapons Engineer.
