Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Small Arms Maintainer to join our team at HMS NELSON. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and availability of our small arms inventory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on small arms equipment to ensure 85% availability
  • Manage the issue and receipt of all weapons and ancillaries, including preparation, delivery, and collection of assets
  • Stay up-to-date on weapons maintenance policy and procedure to ensure successful inspections and assurance visits
  • Monitor and maintain AinU levels, compile timely and accurate assessments of equipment, and manage and control all weapon outfits
  • Prepare 3lb saluting platforms for national events as a Primary Saluting Station

Requirements

  • Experience in small arms maintenance, preferably with a background in British Armed Forces personal weapon systems
  • Hold a qualification in small arms maintenance, such as RN Advanced Small Arms Maintainer or Armourer 2
  • Knowledge of policy and process in maintenance and provision of small arms, including recording of equipment transactions and civilian firearms control regulations
  • Ability to work independently and lead personnel as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
