This exciting opportunity offers the chance to lead a psychiatric service for young people up to 18 years in a regional inpatient setting. As a centre of excellence, the service provides a unique chance to develop links with colleagues across the West of Scotland and contribute to the development of evidence-based pathways of care.

The successful candidate will join a highly experienced Consultant colleague and a cohesive multidisciplinary team, providing medical leadership and responsible medical officer responsibilities for patients within the regional adolescent inpatient service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient care and medical leadership for young people with severe and complex psychiatric disorders.
  • Develop and maintain links with colleagues across the West of Scotland and contribute to the development of evidence-based pathways of care.
  • Take responsible medical officer responsibilities for the care of young people from age 12 years up to 17 years inclusive.
  • Work within evidence-based pathways of care for young people with complex disorders and adhere to the philosophy and determinants of the Mental Health Act Scotland.
Requirements
  • Full GMC registration and a licence to practice.
  • Higher specialist training leading to CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).
  • Experience of working in tier 3 or 4 child and adolescent psychiatry services.
  • Registration as an Approved Medical Practitioner according to the terms of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act or agreement to undertake training to achieve this qualification.
