Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our Regional Adolescent Inpatient Service. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality psychiatric care to young people aged 12-17 years, with a focus on complex and severe disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical leadership and Responsible Medical Officer (RMO) responsibilities for patients within the regional adolescent inpatient service.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based pathways of care for young people with complex disorders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families.
  • Engage in research, teaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in child and adolescent mental health care.

Requirements:

  • Full GMC registration and a license to practice.
  • Higher specialist training leading to CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or equivalent experience and qualifications.
  • Experience working in tier 3 or 4 child and adolescent psychiatry services.
  • Registration as an Approved Medical Practitioner under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act, or willingness to undertake training.
