Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Health Play Specialist to join our dynamic and inclusive team within the division dedicated to children and young people. This role involves providing support to young patients across various departments, engaging in diverse specialties. You will be part of a prestigious play team that supports individuals aged 0 to 25 years, guided by a leadership team committed to high-quality specialized play practices on a national scale. This role will contribute to shaping the delivery of health services for children and young people, allowing you to broaden your knowledge and experience across multiple specialties.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience working with children and young people in a healthcare environment and demonstrate sensitivity when interacting with families in challenging situations. You should be adept at engaging with young patients and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary team members to creatively apply therapeutic techniques that enhance the hospital experience for children and young people.

As part of a collaborative team, you will find that play and recreation are integral to the treatment process, and your contributions to patient care will be highly valued. The role includes mentoring junior staff and guiding students, providing an opportunity to develop leadership skills in areas such as staff scheduling, service assessment, and referral management.

You will collaborate with a dedicated team of play and recreation workers, play specialists, and youth support coordinators who will assist you in your role, alongside a leadership team focused on your professional growth.

Flexibility in working hours is essential, with shifts scheduled between 7:30 AM and 6 PM to meet service demands. Weekend and holiday coverage may also be required for this position.
