About the Role

The NHS England is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Governance Specialist to join our team. As an Information Governance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the organization's compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to information governance and records management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of effective controls and training to ensure NHS England's compliance with appropriate and evolving information governance regulations and records management standards.
  • Work as part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the organization to increase awareness of Information Governance and Records Management and embed good practice.
  • Support the IG Lead (RM) in ensuring adherence to IG policies throughout NHS England and support the provision of an efficient, effective, professional, and well-coordinated records management service.
  • Lead on the expansion and development of volunteer Records & Information Management Coordinators across the organization.
  • Improve the current level of awareness and understanding of records management practices across NHSE through provision of records management advice.
  • Lead on the design, and provision of records management training across the organization.
  • Support the development of a new EDRMS for the organization.

Requirements
  • Post-graduate degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area.
  • Further training or significant experience in project management, financial management, or supporting change management processes.
  • Data Protection and/or Records Management qualification.
  • Knowledge of the ISO15489 records management standard.
  • Knowledge of complex information systems and management.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of working within the specialist profession of records management.
  • Knowledge of the legislative requirements including data protection and the Records management Code of Practice 2021.
  • Knowledge of NHS Information Governance and the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques, and tools.
  • Knowledge of Financial Systems monitoring budget management, processing invoices, and procurement.
  • Experience managing records within an NHS setting managing patient-level data.
  • Experience of managing a team, managing risks, and reporting, monitoring budgets, and business planning processes.
  • Understanding of the public sector and demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment.
