About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to join our team at Archers Recruitment Ltd. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes, from production planning to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Team Management: Lead and manage a team of manufacturing professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the skills and resources needed to excel in their roles.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of our manufacturing strategy, working closely with the Operations Manager to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that drive business growth.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Collaborate with the EHS Manager and Operations Manager to ensure our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
  • Performance Management: Set and manage performance targets for direct reports, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their role in achieving our company vision.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with other functions, including R&D, Customer Care, Commercial, Finance, and HR, to deliver outcome-focused solutions to business challenges.
  • Business Development: Contribute to the development of our business, working with the Operations Manager to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Service and Quality Improvement: Deliver continuously improving service and quality improvements, working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Strong problem-solving skills that enable sound business judgment and decision-making.
  • Supply Chain Management: Experience of supply chain management, including procurement, logistics, and distribution.
  • Manufacturing Engineering: Manufacturing engineering experience, including standard operations, plant layout, waste elimination, continuous improvement, and engineering change control.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Demonstrate Lean Manufacturing experience in batch and continuous manufacturing.
  • Communication and Influencing: Confident communication, influencing, negotiation, and assertiveness skills.
  • Engineering Technical Skills: Broad engineering technical skills and knowledge of implementation across a wide range of industries.
  • Quality Management: Quality management that delivers to customer requirements.
  • Project Management: Project management and change management experience.
  • Report Writing and Presentation: Report writing and presentation skills.
  • Performance Measures: Meeting and exceeding performance measures and continuous improvement KPIs.
  • Project Delivery: Delivering projects safely, on-time, to budget, and to specification.
  • Manufacturing Planning: Creating and delivering the Manufacturing plan to budget.
  • Service and Quality: Ensuring delivery of best-in-class service and quality to pre-defined standards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualifications: Educated to degree level, or equivalent, with relevant experience as defined below.
  • NEBOSH or Equivalent: NEBOSH or working towards desirable.
  • Lean/Six Sigma: Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or relevant problem-solving experience.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience working directly in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Cap-Ex Justification: Cap-Ex justification and delivery experience.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuous Improvement initiatives experience.
  • Team Building: Team Building and fulfillment experience.
