Advanced Communication Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Communication Specialist to become a vital member of our esteemed, interdisciplinary health and social care team focused on supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
The successful candidate will integrate into the Integrated Learning Disability Team, which is committed to delivering exceptional health and social care evaluations and interventions for individuals with intricate and demanding needs. Our team consists of community health professionals, social service experts, physiotherapists, communication specialists, psychologists, care coordinators, assistant practitioners, and psychiatric support.
Core Responsibilities
The role involves providing evidence-based assessments and interventions in communication and swallowing for adults with learning disabilities who may present with complex challenges. You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary framework, emphasizing a person-centered approach while being innovative and resourceful in addressing the communication requirements of individuals, alongside offering support to their families and caregivers.
Key Duties Include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify communication and swallowing disorders.
- Formulating treatment plans based on assessment findings and implementing specialized communication therapy interventions.
- Utilizing evidence-based methodologies to guide clinical decisions regarding communication impairments and dysphagia.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess a recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification, along with evidence of completing a post-basic qualification in dysphagia.
Previous experience working with individuals with learning disabilities is essential, as is a thorough understanding of relevant national and local policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines applicable to this client group.
