We are excited to announce an opening for an Applications Scientist within our Consumer Care division, based at the Materials Innovation Factory. This dynamic role involves collaborating with the Formulation Science team, focusing on the Beauty Care sector. Your primary responsibilities will include the exploration and characterization of novel molecules, such as surfactants, emulsifiers, and rheology modifiers, contributing to Croda's diverse portfolio. You will bridge the gap between synthesis and formulation applications, enhancing our understanding of fundamental science. Additionally, you will engage in product development initiatives, formulate products, and address customer-related inquiries, utilizing various techniques, including automation. This position offers a rich variety of tasks across Croda's core chemistry and market-oriented applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • A creative scientist with a strong eagerness to learn, demonstrating a proactive, adaptable, and independent approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a broader team.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any Chemistry discipline, or equivalent professional experience, with essential laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in formulation and a background in the consumer care industry would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with techniques such as rheology, spectroscopy, microscopy, and assay development would be beneficial.
  • Previous exposure to automation processes would be advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of various ingredients used in personal care formulations.
  • Understanding of statistical and analytical tools, such as JMP.
