Position Summary:
An exceptional opportunity has emerged for an Applications Scientist to become part of our Consumer Care division. This multifaceted role involves collaboration within the Formulation Science team, specifically focusing on the Beauty Care sector. The primary responsibilities include the exploration and characterization of novel molecules serving as surfactants, emulsifiers, or rheology modifiers, thereby enhancing Croda's diverse portfolio. This position bridges the synthesis and formulation applications teams, fostering a deeper understanding of fundamental science. Furthermore, the role encompasses participation in both new and ongoing product development initiatives, formulation tasks, and customer-related project requests, necessitating the application of various techniques, including automation. Overall, this position offers a diverse range of responsibilities across Croda's core chemistry and market-oriented applications.

Essential Qualifications:

  • An innovative scientist with a strong desire to learn, exhibiting a proactive, adaptable, and independent approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any Chemistry discipline, or equivalent professional experience, with prior laboratory experience being essential.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in formulation and a background in the consumer care industry would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with techniques such as rheology, analytical tools including spectroscopy, microscopy, and assay development would be beneficial.
  • Prior experience with automation is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of various ingredients used in personal care formulations.
  • Understanding of statistical and analytical tools such as JMP.
