Position Overview
We are pleased to announce a remarkable opportunity within the Clinical Chemistry Division for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic and dedicated team.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification, be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist, and have completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio (Clinical Chemistry) or demonstrate equivalent experience at a band 6 level in Biochemistry. We are open to considering and supporting trainee Biomedical Scientists who are nearing the completion of their registration portfolio and are close to verification. Candidates will be expected to showcase evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD) during the interview process.
Candidates lacking a Specialist Portfolio may still be considered; however, they will initially be placed on the band 5 pay scale until they complete in-house competencies and begin participating in the out-of-hours shift rota, at which point they will transition to the bottom of the band 6 pay scale and are expected to finalize their specialist portfolio within a 23-month timeframe.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will integrate into the Clinical Chemistry team and will be required to rotate across multiple hospital sites. Each laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art analysers, and the candidate will be expected to work independently on the Out of Hours shift rota following a training period.
The ideal candidate should exhibit a strong work ethic, be motivated, adaptable to ongoing changes and service enhancements, and demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. We value a collaborative and friendly work environment, so a positive and proactive attitude is essential.

Scientific and Technical Responsibilities
The role includes assessing the suitability of samples submitted to the laboratory, analyzing specimens for diagnostic and clinical management, and interpreting the technical validity of results. The candidate will also be responsible for:
