Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold the fundamental values of the Home Instead franchise
  • Foster a supportive living atmosphere to improve a client's overall well-being
  • Record daily activities and communicate any notable changes in a client's requirements or living situation
  • Maintain consistent communication with your supervisor and office personnel
Companionship Duties
  • Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversations
  • Oversee dietary habits and meal consumption
  • Encourage participation in various activities
  • Organize and remind clients of appointments, events, and outings
  • Assist with travel planning
  • Manage correspondence and assist with letter writing
  • Support mobility and walking
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social gatherings
Domestic Support Services
  • Run errands as needed
  • Perform light cleaning and housekeeping tasks
  • Organize and declutter living spaces
  • Plan, prepare, and clean up meals
  • Answer the door for visitors
  • Assist with pet care responsibilities
  • Supervise home maintenance tasks
  • Help with grocery shopping and manage home deliveries
Personal Assistance Services
  • Provide reminders for medication
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, and personal grooming
  • Support continence care
  • Aid in eating and drinking
  • Offer care for clients with Dementia or Alzheimer’s
  • Provide respite or recovery care
  • Assist with morning routines and evening wind-downs
Additional Responsibilities
  • Engage in company-sponsored training and social activities
  • Report working hours in accordance with office policy and communicate any changes in availability
  • Participate in the PEAQ engagement survey
  • Document client information in the Client and Life Journal
  • May involve running errands and providing incidental transportation for clients
Essential Qualifications
  • Ability to treat clients and their belongings with dignity and respect
  • Adaptability to various living environments and situations
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families
  • Professionalism in interactions with Home Instead office teams and others
  • Respect for diverse backgrounds and beliefs
  • Willingness to seek guidance when necessary and follow instructions
  • Commitment to good hygiene practices, including personal grooming and appearance
  • Sufficient stamina and fitness to meet the physical demands of the role
  • This position requires obtaining an Enhanced Disclosure from the relevant authority
  • Class 1 business insurance is necessary if using a personal vehicle for work purposes
