Position Overview

The Crisis Support Coordinator plays a vital role in assisting the Sanctuary Manager and fellow coordinators at various Crisis Alternative locations, ensuring effective shift management and providing support to a dedicated team of Sanctuary Support Workers. This position is focused on delivering immediate interventions to individuals facing mental health challenges.

This service operates continuously throughout the week, providing essential support during evening hours.

Key Responsibilities

The primary objectives of the Crisis Support Coordinator include:

  1. Offering practical and emotional assistance to individuals in a secure and nurturing environment, serving as an alternative to hospitalization.
  2. Welcoming clients referred to the service and addressing their immediate needs.
  3. Facilitating the development of emotional regulation, personal growth, and life skills among service users to enhance their self-esteem and independence.
  4. Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with various external organizations, including housing services, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and support agencies.
  5. Ensuring the safety and well-being of all service users.
  6. Collaborating effectively with team members and providing supportive guidance to colleagues during shifts.
  7. Overseeing the responsibilities of on-duty Sanctuary Support Workers.
  8. Exhibiting compassion, kindness, and care in all interactions.
  9. Serving as a positive role model for team members.
  10. Representing Mind in West Essex professionally in all external communications.
  11. Collecting and analyzing data for contract monitoring and impact assessment.
  12. Adhering to all organizational policies, procedures, and objectives.
  13. Promoting equity and inclusivity in all aspects of work.
  14. Ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential qualifications include:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in mental health services, particularly in a supervisory role.
  • A relevant management or leadership qualification, or a commitment to pursue one upon successful completion of the probationary period.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable qualifications may include:

  • A relevant qualification in counseling, social work, occupational therapy, mental health nursing, or social care, or equivalent experience.

This role requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the service.
