Job Summary

Brighton College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head Groundsperson to join our grounds team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional grounds maintenance services across all our sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with sports teams to ensure pitches and surfaces are prepared and inspected for fixtures and games.
  • Supervise a team of grounds staff to maintain sports pitches and grounds to the highest standards.
  • Monitor and improve grounds maintenance services, promoting safe working practices and adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Manage projects and work with contractors to ensure high-quality site provision.
  • Provide front-line grounds services in adverse weather conditions, including ice and snow clearance.
  • Deputise for the Head Groundsperson in their absence.
Requirements
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent in sports turf or a related field.
  • Full and clean driving license.
  • Experience in using grounds maintenance machinery and equipment.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable Criteria
  • Management-level experience and proven leadership skills.
  • At least 3 years of practical multisport grounds management experience, particularly in cricket preparation.
  • Spraying and chainsaw certificates.
  • Health and safety qualification.
  • IT skills.
  • Experience working in a school or college environment.
