We are pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a Customer Team Member in our Bakery Department. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting our store management and enhancing the customer experience. Your contributions will be vital in maximizing sales and profitability by executing assigned tasks aimed at the ongoing enhancement of the store, ensuring exceptional customer service through 'Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food for Later, and Food for Now.'

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Preparation of all bakery ingredients, including cooking breakfast and lunch items, baking cookies and bread, and washing, cutting, slicing, chopping, and grating ingredients, in line with established guidelines.
  • Welcoming customers in a friendly and inviting manner.
  • Responding to customer inquiries regarding products and services and assisting customers in locating the items they require.
  • Efficiently and accurately processing customer transactions through the tills while maintaining a positive and friendly service.
  • Promoting selected products to customers and highlighting multi-buy offers to ensure maximum sales.
  • Complying with all food handling, safety, and sanitation standards when storing, preparing, serving food, and cleaning the department.

Store Operations:

  • Managing stock; checking deliveries, stocking shelves, keeping the sales floor clean and organized, and rotating stock to ensure freshness and timely expiration dates.
  • Completing additional assigned tasks, such as date checking, stock and gap checking, price changes, promotional displays, and other tasks as required.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures.

Key Skills/Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry is preferred.
  • Reliably follows instructions and procedures with excellent attention to detail.
  • Some understanding of legislative responsibilities in a retail environment and the skills to assist with compliance.
  • Ability to contribute ideas for delivering exceptional customer service and advancing the business.
  • Experience with a 'Challenge 25' policy is desirable.
  • Enthusiastic and proactive approach to working both in a team and independently.
  • Previous cash handling experience is preferred but not essential.
