Job Summary

The Parking Enforcement Officer will be responsible for undertaking enforcement activities to ensure compliance with relevant traffic regulation orders. This includes monitoring and enforcing charged parking areas, parking restrictions, and residents' zones in accordance with decriminalised parking enforcement (DPE) powers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor driver behavior and enforce parking restrictions on-street and within car parks throughout Fife.
  • Check and report on road markings, signing, and car park condition.
  • Perform checks and minor maintenance on parking equipment.
  • Issue penalty charge notices to vehicles parked in contravention of TROs.
  • Act as a front-line point of contact for Fife Council to assist the public while on patrol.
  • Travel throughout Fife and walk various routes, up to several miles each day.
  • Work independently with an element of lone working required.

Working Arrangements

Shifts will be 5 days over 7 days each week, with the earliest shift starting at 7am and the latest ending at 7pm. The role is primarily based at Bankhead, Glenrothes, where each shift will start and end, but the day will be spent traveling and patrolling throughout Fife.

Unsociable hours worked will be paid as an enhancement over and above the standard salary.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with experience in a front-facing role in a customer-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a positive approach to customer service, allowing them to effectively resolve conflicts while remaining professional and polite.

They should be able to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating their initiative while working independently. Strong team working skills are also required to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach in delivering the service.

Experience within the parking or transport industry, alongside knowledge of regulations and legislation relating to parking enforcement, is desirable.
