Personal Safety and First Aid Training Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Personal Safety and First Aid Trainer. As a key member of our training team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training programs for public and personal safety.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver training programs for public and personal safety, in accordance with the College of Policing Authorised Professional Practice and the National Police Chief's Council manuals.
- Deliver initial training for new police officers and staff, as well as refresher training for existing personnel.
- Develop and deliver first aid training to officers and staff, in accordance with ATACC guidelines.
- Facilitate the Job Related Fitness Test for all officers and other specialist roles in the force.
- Monitor the delivery of learning to ensure the required level of knowledge, skills, and behaviors are achieved.
- Support and manage learning and assessment activities to ensure the achievement of accredited packages, such as College of Policing programs.
- Respond to individual learner needs and assist in identifying solutions to any problems experienced.
- Maintain and update relevant paperwork on force systems.
- Recognize, supervise, and challenge inappropriate behavior in the training environment, ensuring force standards of behavior are maintained.
- Establish effective networks with internal and external partners to implement collaborative approaches to learning and development.
- Maintain professional competence and practice to deliver various learning and development topics using varied learning styles.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate the development of others and influence and empower learners.
- Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops for individuals and teams.
- A comprehensive understanding and appreciation of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programs.
- Well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate records and reports.
- Highly motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office products, with accurate keyboard skills.
- A sound operational background within a policing environment, with a good knowledge of law and procedure.
- The ability to pass a role-related fitness test and maintain the required standard during the period of posting.
- Up-to-date knowledge of public and personal safety training.
- The willingness to test, evaluate, and make recommendations about specialist equipment to support the effective deployment of operational staff and officers.
- The ability to provide professional advice and expert opinion to the force.
- The ability to work weekends (1 in 4) and unsocial hours, with payment applicable.
- The requirement to pass the JRFT fitness level of 5.4 prior to offer of employment and to continue to pass at this level on an annual basis.
- The need to ensure continuous professional development (CPD) is kept up-to-date and recorded.
- The ability to travel across Surrey and Sussex, with occasional travel required.
- The willingness to undertake specialist courses to meet the demands of the department and force, as deemed appropriate by the department head.
