Job Objective

This position encompasses responsibilities across various operational sites.

The Renewable Energy Technician specializing in Solar and Battery Storage will engage in field operations and maintenance duties for large-scale battery storage facilities and ground-mounted solar photovoltaic systems. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring these facilities maintain exceptional safety, quality, and operational efficiency while adhering to budgetary constraints, as part of a leading team of renewable energy professionals.

As a qualified electrician, you will possess experience in the operation and maintenance of megawatt-scale power facilities, with competencies in both direct current (DC) and high voltage (HV) systems. This is a permanent position requiring availability for weekend on-call duties as part of a scheduled rotation. An overtime compensation structure is in place.

A company vehicle, smartphone, and laptop/tablet will be provided. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Solar & Storage Operations and Maintenance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Adhering to and managing health and safety protocols while striving to enhance safety standards across all facilities Attaining and maintaining Authorised Person status based on training, experience, and specific job role requirements Conducting scheduled inspections and maintenance in accordance with legal, technical, manufacturer, and contractual obligations Inspecting, testing, and maintaining plant and equipment Performing AC and DC system testing, troubleshooting, and fault resolution Executing reactive maintenance and promptly diagnosing and resolving faults Troubleshooting and repairing sensors and communication devices, including RS485, Ethernet, and fiber optic networks Configuring computer-based devices and components, including firmware updates Occasionally assisting with site maintenance, cleaning, or mechanical tasks Inducting and managing subcontractors, ensuring their safe operations, and conducting quality checks on their work Maintaining accurate maintenance records and compiling reports Communicating effectively with the Operations and Maintenance office and team functions Traveling between various sites and offices Occasionally working away from home for training or to cover other sites for up to one week Performing other tasks as required by the role

Required Knowledge

Familiarity with central inverters is desirable Understanding of High Voltage operations Technical knowledge of AC, DC, SCADA, instrumentation, and communication networks Strong understanding of solar PV technology is essential Knowledge of HVAC, fire protection, and security systems is desirable Understanding of battery storage technology is beneficial, although training can be provided

Required Experience

Experience in drafting, reviewing, and modifying Risk Assessments and Method Statements Experience collaborating with equipment vendors for fault diagnosis DC and LV installation, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning experience Experience working independently in remote locations Solar PV installation and operations and maintenance experience (megawatt-scale or large commercial ground-mounted) Experience in battery storage installation and operations and maintenance (megawatt-scale) is preferred Experience in installing or maintaining Ethernet and fiber optic communication systems Familiarity with SCADA or data monitoring systems Experience working with central inverters Experience with High Voltage switchgear

Qualifications
