Overview

The Director of Biostatistics plays a pivotal role in shaping and advancing statistical methodologies within clinical development and medical affairs. This position is integral to fostering cross-functional collaboration and guiding strategic decision-making across various therapeutic areas and stages of clinical trials.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Clinical Data Science to establish and implement standards and automation strategies across the organization.
  • Lead a global team dedicated to achieving data standards and automation goals within the organization.
  • Ensure the deployment of high-quality, scalable, and regulatory-compliant data standards and technologies in partnership with both internal stakeholders and external industry leaders.
  • Oversee the planning and management of key performance indicators, frameworks, policies, and processes related to data standards and automation.
  • Ensure that the organization realizes a return on investment in the standards and automation initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

As the Director of Biostatistics, you will be tasked with influencing and advancing statistical strategies while engaging in collaborative decision-making across clinical development phases. You will lead the integration of insights from various quantitative experts throughout the development lifecycle, significantly impacting clinical development, regulatory interactions, and strategic product decisions. You will represent the Biostatistics function in key internal and external forums, mentor junior statisticians, and deliver strategic, technical, and scientific leadership.

Potential Roles:

  • Global Program Biostatistics Head for complex projects or Lead Statistician for multiple early-phase clinical studies.
  • Individual contributor recognized as a thought leader in biostatistics within the pharmaceutical industry.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Statistics or a related field with extensive experience in the industry.
  • Proficiency in English with strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex statistical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Proven ability to influence project outcomes and departmental objectives.
  • Expertise in applying advanced statistical methods and innovative approaches to drug development.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing novel statistical methodologies in clinical research.
  • Comprehensive understanding of drug development processes and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one therapeutic area.
  • Effective leadership and mentoring capabilities, with experience overseeing teams.
