Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to take on the role of Lead Emergency Nurse within our Emergency Department.

We invite experienced nursing professionals to become part of our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and leadership abilities, along with a strong desire to enhance emergency and acute nursing practices. You will play a crucial role in overseeing patient flow within the department while applying your advanced nursing expertise.

The successful applicants will be proactive and innovative, demonstrating a commitment to improving patient care and safety in urgent, emergency, and acute care settings. A solid understanding of care pathways and the patient journey is essential, as is a strong emphasis on effective communication, safe discharge planning, and secure patient transfers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional standards, serving as a named nurse (or key worker) for a designated group of patients and taking responsibility for:
  • Protecting and promoting the health of individual patients and clients
  • Assessing care and health education requirements
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating care programs, including discharge planning for each patient
  • Taking charge of the ward/department regularly in the absence of the designated responsible person
  • Working in alignment with the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Core Standards of the organization
  • Maintaining effective communication
  • Delivering high-quality, patient-centered holistic care
  • Acting as a mentor/preceptor to student nurses and others, and participating in clinical supervision programs as appropriate

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (part 1 register)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Practice Assessor or equivalent
