Lead Neonatal Nurse

Position Overview
The Lead Neonatal Nurse will assume comprehensive managerial, clinical, and professional oversight of the Neonatal Unit.
This role demands innovative thinking to guarantee the delivery of superior infant care in a safe and efficient manner, aligning with Trust policies and protocols.
Encouraging, facilitating, and nurturing the professional and clinical growth of neonatal nursing personnel is essential.
As a proactive leader, you will foster motivation and effective communication within the neonatal team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals across the Trust and community.
You will serve as a visible point of contact for the infants' caregivers, visitors, relatives, and staff, acting as a resource for problem-solving and addressing needs. Your role will exemplify the protection and maintenance of the dignity, rights, and confidentiality of both the infants and team members.
A high degree of motivation and the ability to inspire and develop staff will be crucial.
Main Responsibilities
Actively manage the daily delivery of care, ensuring effective monitoring of staffing requirements and implementing necessary measures to maintain a balanced skill mix.
Promote the significance of the Neonatal Nurse role, developing a neonatal nursing service that prioritizes the best interests of infants and their families. Contribute positively to the strategic planning of the service.
Identify training and development needs to support and enhance the existing nursing staff.
Coordinate and oversee the care provided by all team members in the department, liaising with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure continuous care delivery, taking appropriate actions if care standards are not met.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), or Registered Nurse in Child Health (RNC)
- Quality Improvement Skills (QIS)
- Completion of a Leadership Course
Experience
Essential:
- A minimum of 2 years in a Band 6 leadership role
- Experience in an acute Neonatal setting
Desirable:
- Experience in implementing change initiatives
