Job Overview

The Lead Neonatal Nurse will assume managerial, clinical, and professional oversight of the Neonatal Unit.

This role requires innovative thinking to ensure the delivery of high-quality infant care in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will foster, facilitate, and support the professional and clinical growth of neonatal nursing personnel.

As a visible leader, you will ensure motivation and effective communication within the neonatal team and among other healthcare professionals across the Trust and community.

You will serve as a primary point of contact for infants' caregivers, visitors, relatives, and staff, acting as a resource for problem-solving and addressing needs. You will exemplify the protection and maintenance of the dignity, rights, and confidentiality of both the infants and team members.

A high degree of motivation and the ability to inspire and develop staff will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

- Actively manage the daily delivery of care, ensuring effective monitoring of staffing requirements and implementing measures for a balanced skill mix.

- Advocate for the role of the Neonatal Nurse, developing a service that prioritizes the best interests of infants and their families while contributing positively to the strategic planning of the service.

- Identify training and development needs to support and enhance the skills of existing nursing staff.

- Coordinate and oversee the care provided by all staff members in the department, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure continuous care delivery, taking appropriate actions if care standards are not met.
