Position Overview

The Lead Neonatal Nurse will assume comprehensive managerial, clinical, and professional oversight of the Neonatal Unit.

This role requires innovative thinking to guarantee the delivery of exceptional infant care in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to Trust policies and protocols.

The successful candidate will foster, facilitate, and support the professional and clinical growth of neonatal nursing personnel.

As a proactive leader, you will ensure motivation and effective communication within the neonatal team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals across the Trust and community.

You will serve as a visible point of contact for infants' caregivers, visitors, relatives, and staff, acting as a resource for problem-solving and addressing needs. It is essential to act as a role model, ensuring the dignity, rights, and confidentiality of both the infants and team members are upheld.

A high degree of motivation and the ability to inspire and develop staff are critical attributes for this position.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the daily delivery of care effectively, ensuring appropriate monitoring of staffing needs and implementing measures to maintain a balanced skill mix.

- Advocate for the role of the Neonatal Nurse, enhancing the neonatal nursing service to prioritize the best interests of infants and their families. Contribute positively to the strategic planning of the service.

- Identify training and development needs to support and enhance the skills of existing nursing staff.

- Coordinate and oversee the care provided by all staff members in the department, liaising with the multidisciplinary team and external agencies to ensure continuous care delivery, taking necessary actions if care standards are not met.
