Hostelling Scotland is a prominent provider of affordable, quality lodging across Scotland. Our mission is to deliver outstanding experiences for our guests while maintaining the highest standards of property upkeep and safety. We are currently in search of a committed Property Officer to enhance our Property Team.

In the role of Property Officer, you will be essential in organizing, planning, and supervising the routine upkeep of all Hostelling Scotland properties. You will collaborate closely with our Property Manager and the Property & Facilities Compliance Manager to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations throughout our facilities. Furthermore, you will assist the Director of Property and Health & Safety in managing various stages of property-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance: Organize, schedule, and oversee regular maintenance activities for all properties, ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and operational.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Work alongside the Property & Facilities Compliance Manager to guarantee that all properties adhere to health and safety standards, conducting inspections as necessary and implementing improvements.
  • Project Support: Provide assistance to the Director of Property and Health & Safety throughout all phases of property-related projects, including planning, budgeting, execution, and assessment.
  • Supplier Coordination: Communicate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers to arrange maintenance and repair services, ensuring high-quality service delivery within budget constraints.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain precise records of maintenance activities, health and safety inspections, and project progress, ensuring all documentation is current and easily accessible.
  • Budget Management: Aid in overseeing the property maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions while adhering to financial limitations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively within the Property Team, fostering a positive team environment and providing support to colleagues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in property maintenance, facilities management, or a related area.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and external partners.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to various properties as required, with a full UK manual driving license for the use of pool vehicles.
