Hostelling Scotland is a prominent provider of economical and quality lodging across Scotland. Our mission is to deliver an outstanding experience for all our guests while upholding the highest standards of property upkeep and safety. We are currently in search of a committed Property Officer to enhance our Property Team.

As a Property Officer, you will be instrumental in organizing, coordinating, and supervising the routine upkeep of all properties managed by Hostelling Scotland. You will collaborate closely with our Property Manager and Property & Facilities Compliance Manager to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations throughout our network. Furthermore, you will assist the Director of Property and Health & Safety in overseeing all phases of project work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance: Strategically plan, schedule, and manage regular maintenance tasks for all properties, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained and operational.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Work in partnership with the Property & Facilities Compliance Manager to ensure all properties comply with health and safety standards, conducting inspections as necessary and implementing required enhancements.
  • Project Support: Aid the Director of Property and Health & Safety in all stages of property-related projects, including planning, budgeting, execution, and assessment.
  • Supplier Coordination: Communicate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers to arrange maintenance and repair services, ensuring high-quality service delivery within budget constraints.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain precise records of maintenance activities, health and safety inspections, and project developments, ensuring all documentation is current and readily accessible.
  • Budget Management: Assist in overseeing the property maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and compliance with financial limitations.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively within the Property Team, fostering a positive team environment and providing support to colleagues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in property maintenance, facilities management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and external partners.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to various properties as required, with a valid UK manual driving license for the use of pool vehicles.
