Job Description

**Job Title:** Insurance and Risk Officer

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Insurance and Risk Officer to join our team at the Risk Management Institute of Australasia. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, expert advice, and comprehensive management of the organisation's risk and insurance functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • **Develop and Implement a Risk Management Framework:** Design and implement a robust risk management framework that aligns with the organisation's objectives and ensures effective risk mitigation.
  • **Manage Corporate Insurance Portfolio:** Oversee the management of the organisation's corporate insurance portfolio, ensuring that all risks are adequately covered and that policies are up-to-date.
  • **Provide Expert Advice:** Provide expert guidance and advice on audit, risk, and insurance matters to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • **Undertake Project Work:** Undertake project work to improve systems and processes, and to strengthen organisational knowledge of risk and management principles and practices.
  • **Support Council and Committees:** Support the work of the Council and Council Committees, including the Audit Committee.
Requirements:
  • **Relevant Qualification:** A relevant tertiary qualification in risk, audit, insurance, business, or a related field.
  • **Substantial Experience:** Substantial professional experience in a senior risk management role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • **Local Council Experience:** Demonstrated Local Council experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • **Advanced Knowledge:** Advanced knowledge of risk management, including strategic and operational risk management frameworks and reporting.
  • **Internal Audit Experience:** Extensive experience in managing internal audit programs with a focus on enhancing governance and ensuring compliance.
  • **Insurance Portfolio Management:** Expertise in managing complex insurance portfolios, including renewals and claims.
  • **Communication Skills:** Demonstrated ability in drafting high-quality written materials, including policies, reports, and templates.
