About the Role

M&G plc. is seeking an experienced Risk Oversight Manager to join our Life and Wealth team. As a key member of our risk management function, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective oversight and guidance of operational risk matters across our businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with our people policies, Group Code of Conduct, and embedding desired behaviours.
  • Risk Identification and Assessment: Be personally accountable for identifying, assessing, managing, and reporting risks within your area of responsibility.
  • Operational Risk Engagement: Lead on the operational risk engagement with the Business Area on all operational risk matters and bring specialists in as required.
  • Representation and Governance: Represent Operational Risk at Business Area specific governance committees, risk forums, or team meetings.
  • Operational Risk Framework: Lead on the oversight and guidance of Business Area implementation of Operational Risk Framework.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain a positive, respectful, and constructive relationship between the first line and Operational Risk.
  • Training and Development: Lead on the delivery of Business Area specific Operational Risk training.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead, review, and challenge of Business Area led root cause analysis.
  • Change Management: Oversight and guidance of major Business Area specific change management programmes.
  • Team Management: Manage and support the Senior Risk Analysts ensuring appropriate deployment, development, and support.
Requirements
  • Experience: An experienced financial services professional with a strong background in Risk Management and control.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of the regulatory framework for Non-Financial Risk Management and measurement within financial services.
  • Business Acumen: A good understanding of the risk environment facing Life Insurance and/or Wealth businesses.
  • Communication Skills: Strong presentation skills to senior level boards and committees.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead team initiatives and work collaboratively with other teams across the three lines of defence.
  • Qualifications: Relevant professional qualification (e.g. IRM Diploma in Risk Mgt, CII, ACA, CIMA, ACCA, IIA).
