Risk Management Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Risk Management Specialist to join our team at M&G plc. As a key member of our Risk Management function, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on risk management practices to our business areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance and Governance
Ensure compliance with our Group Code of Conduct and embedding desired behaviours across the organization.
Risk ManagementBe personally accountable for identifying, assessing, managing, and reporting risks within your area of responsibility, including supporting formal risk management activities such as Risk & Control Self Assessments and timely closure of Assurance actions.
Operational Risk EngagementLead on the operational risk engagement with the Business Area on all operational risk matters and bring specialists in as required, including oversight of Business Area outsourcing partners.
Representation and GovernanceRepresent Operational Risk at Business Area specific governance committees, risk forums or team meetings and provide risk business partnering approach.
Operational Risk FrameworkLead on the oversight and guidance of Business Area implementation of Operational Risk Framework including workshop facilitation - e.g. RCSA, Notifiable Events, Risk Appetite (Tolerances, Limits and Triggers) and Scenarios.
Relationship BuildingDevelopment and maintenance of a relationship between the first line and Operational Risk that is positive, respectful, and constructive including oversight of risk culture embeddedness.
Training and DevelopmentLead on the delivery of Business Area specific Operational Risk training.
Root Cause AnalysisLead, review and challenge of Business Area led root cause analysis.
Change ManagementOversight and guidance of major Business Area specific change management programmes.
Team ManagementManage and support the Senior Risk Analysts ensuring appropriate deployment, development, and support.
Requirements
- Experience
An experienced financial services professional with a strong background in Risk Management and control.
Regulatory KnowledgeStrong understanding of the regulatory framework for Non-Financial Risk Management and measurement within financial services.
Risk EnvironmentA good understanding of the risk environment facing Life Insurance and/or Wealth businesses and the confidence to challenge the first line in the identification and assessment of their key risks and controls.
Presentation SkillsStrong presentation skills to senior level boards and committees with the ability to explain and articulate risk management concepts in the context of Life Insurance and/or Wealth.
Stakeholder ManagementStrong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
Industry ExperienceSignificant risk management experience within the financial services industry.
Executive Level ExperienceExperience working with Executive Level stakeholders and presenting to committees.
Operational Risk OversightExperience in operational risk oversight including the embedding of an operational risk framework in the first line of defence.
