Are you passionate about fostering community connections and supporting local initiatives?

We are seeking a seasoned leader to oversee our vibrant corps (church) environment, dedicated to addressing the needs of the surrounding community. While the primary location for this role will be at Plymouth Barbican, the position also provides support and resources to three additional sites within the city.

As the Community Engagement Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a pivotal role in the design and implementation of the comprehensive spiritual program at the site.
  • Encouraging individual and group Christian discipleship, worship, and social action.
  • Leading efforts to establish and sustain connections within the corps (church), the local community, and relevant charities, religious organizations, and agencies.
  • Managing the facility, finances, fundraising efforts, and administrative tasks at the site.
  • Overseeing all people-related activities involving direct reports, including volunteers and one employee.

To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • A vibrant Christian faith, with the capacity to show compassion and understanding to all participants; the ability to recognize spiritual needs, lead prayers, and engage confidently in discussions about spiritual matters.
  • Proven success in delivering multiple programs that meet established objectives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in managing and developing volunteers and staff.
  • Strong administrative capabilities, including financial management and health and safety compliance.

This position has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practicing Christian, aligned with the doctrines and supportive of the purposes and objectives of The Salvation Army.
