Energy Policy Consultant

As energy prices rise and supply security becomes increasingly complex, we are tasked with ensuring that energy remains accessible for all. Our focus extends beyond immediate challenges; we are dedicated to fostering a transition away from fossil fuels while identifying and nurturing renewable energy alternatives. We are also advocating for improvements in the wholesale energy market to enhance pricing efficiency and consumer benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Development
- Conducting thorough and timely analysis of critical issues and policy alternatives, leading to evidence-based recommendations.
- Creating clear and concise documentation, including briefings, policy papers, consultations, impact assessments, and guidance materials.
- Leading and coordinating significant projects and workstreams, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and prioritization of tasks.
- Communicating the advantages, challenges, and compromises of policy initiatives to senior management and partners.
- Facilitating collaboration across teams and leveraging diverse sources of expertise to address risks and challenges.
- Representing Ofgem in external forums, fostering constructive relationships to address consumer-related issues.
- Evaluating policy proposals by analyzing costs, benefits, risks, and trade-offs, and providing data-driven recommendations.
- Performing quantitative analysis, including data examination and spreadsheet management, to support assessments of wholesale electricity markets.
- Experience or knowledge in wholesale electricity markets, electricity supply security, or capacity market policy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience in managing relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to juggle various tasks and projects effectively.
