Patient Care Assistant

Position Overview
The successful candidate will exhibit empathy and kindness, possessing a natural disposition to work within our specialized wards, particularly with individuals experiencing cognitive challenges such as dementia and delirium. The role involves ensuring the safety of our service users while upholding their dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute a variety of assigned clinical care tasks to implement established care plans under the guidance of qualified personnel.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to prioritize the needs of patients.
- Ensure that patients receive superior clinical care and a positive experience, taking into account their cultural, religious, and personal beliefs.
- Identify and mitigate situations that could negatively impact the health and wellbeing of individuals.
- Serve as an advocate for patients within the unit, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care delivery.
- Assist healthcare professionals in the execution of individualized care plans.
- As instructed, document routine health metrics such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, and blood glucose levels when necessary, and report any irregularities to a registered nurse.
- Recognize signs of pain and discomfort in patients and communicate these observations to the nurse in charge.
- Provide comfort and support to patients, their families, and caregivers.
- Ensure that personal actions contribute to maintaining high standards of quality.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding non-clinical information to enhance communication.
- Establish and maintain effective communication regarding routine and operational matters.
- Always act in a manner that fosters positive working relationships and upholds the professional image of the organization.

Job Responsibilities
Under supervision, the post holder is accountable for executing assigned tasks as part of the clinical team in support of registered nurses, and to undertake certain aspects of care provision under guidance. This role emphasizes the safety and wellbeing of service users, consistently working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights, through the application of person-centered care principles.
Qualifications
Essential
- Evidence of a general education, such as GCSEs or equivalent.
- NVQ II in Healthcare / QCF Diploma in Health Level 2 or an equivalent qualification in the relevant specialty (Operating Theatre Practice for roles in theatre) or comparable experience in a similar position.
