Position Overview

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Band 6 Lead Nurse/Ward Manager to become part of our dedicated team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for enthusiastic, highly skilled, and innovative nurses who possess the capability to oversee a dynamic unit on a daily basis, utilizing their advanced clinical expertise and judgment while providing guidance and support to all team members.

Our unit is a contemporary, forward-thinking environment with 30 beds, catering to patients with intricate medical requirements. Patients are typically admitted from various units, and our focus is on delivering comprehensive discharge planning to ensure a safe and nurturing transition for our patients.

The primary patient demographic includes elderly individuals with complex health needs. We collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to establish effective care plans tailored to each patient.

Additionally, we provide holistic palliative and end-of-life care, ensuring dignity and comfort for our patients.

Our ward is backed by a robust medical team, along with an experienced and well-established nursing staff. We have dedicated physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a discharge coordinator, and a pharmacist on-site to facilitate smooth and well-managed discharges.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care : You will hold overall accountability for all patients under your care, ensuring thorough assessments are conducted, management plans are implemented, and that the care provided is effective, compassionate, and of the highest quality. You will frequently take charge of the ward, supervising staff and evaluating the care delivered to patients.

Documentation and Information Management : It is essential to accurately document the care provided, oversee the documentation completed by others, and ensure compliance with NMC standards for record-keeping.

Staff Development : As a registered nurse, you will be committed to your professional growth while supporting, mentoring, and supervising junior staff. This includes teaching nursing assistants, pre-registration students, newly qualified nurses, and newly appointed staff. You will actively seek feedback on your performance, contribute to performance appraisals, and provide constructive feedback to those you supervise. Maintaining up-to-date staff records is also crucial.

As a senior member of the ward team, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of HR processes to effectively manage your performance and that of your team.
