Job Overview

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Band 6 Lead Nurse/Sister in Charge to become a vital part of our Spire ward team.

We are in search of dynamic, highly motivated, and innovative nursing professionals who possess the capability to oversee a bustling unit daily, utilizing their expert clinical knowledge and judgment while providing essential support to all team members.

Our unit is a contemporary, forward-thinking facility with 30 beds, catering to patients with intricate medical requirements. Patients are admitted from various units, and our ward is dedicated to ensuring comprehensive discharge planning to facilitate a safe and nurturing environment for our patients.

At Spire, we pride ourselves on fostering a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our evolving and dynamic ward offers extensive opportunities for learning and leadership within the nursing field.

The primary focus of our unit is the care of elderly and frail patients. We collaborate closely as a multidisciplinary team to guarantee that the appropriate care plans are established for our patients.

Additionally, we provide holistic palliative and end-of-life care.

Our ward is backed by a robust medical team and an experienced, well-established nursing staff. We have our own dedicated team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a discharge coordinator, and a pharmacist, to ensure seamless and well-coordinated discharges.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care : You will hold overall accountability for all patients in your ward, ensuring thorough assessments are conducted, management plans are implemented, and that the care provided is effective, compassionate, and of the highest quality. You will frequently take charge of the ward, supervising others and evaluating the care delivered to patients.

Documentation : It is essential to accurately document the care provided, oversee the documentation completed by others, and ensure adherence to NMC standards for record-keeping.

Staff Development : As an NMC registrant, you will continue your professional development while supporting, mentoring, supervising, and teaching junior staff, including nursing assistants, pre- and post-registration students, newly qualified nurses, and newly appointed personnel. You will actively seek feedback on your performance, contribute to your appraisals, and provide constructive feedback to those you supervise. Maintaining up-to-date staff records is also a key responsibility.

As a senior member of the ward team, you will gain a solid understanding of HR processes to effectively manage your performance and that of your team members.
