About This Role

As a CAMHS Mental Health Liaison Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing mental health support to patients within general hospital settings. You'll work collaboratively with General Hospital staff to develop and implement care plans, ensuring that acute providers and Psychiatric Liaison services have access to specialized CAMHS knowledge and resources.

Your Responsibilities

  • Participate in offering psychiatric liaison services to children and young people across Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin.
  • Contribute to data collection related to the Liaison Mental Health project.
  • Promote the principles of Liaison Mental Health within acute hospitals to enhance understanding among other professions and agencies.
  • Conduct assessments of mental health and care needs for inpatients with mental health concerns, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams within the hospital.
  • Assess carer views and needs, providing appropriate advice and support.
  • Offer clinical guidance on complex mental health issues to nurses and other healthcare professionals within Shropshire's DGHs.
  • Effectively refer to and liaise with a range of agencies and services to ensure that patients' mental health needs are met effectively during their hospital stay and following discharge.
  • Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain awareness of all Trust policies, including Administration of Medicines, Confidentiality, Records, and Record Keeping.
