Northwood, Greater London, United Kingdom East and North Herts NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Cancer Care AHP Support Practitioner who aligns with our mission to deliver exceptional care and outstanding service to our patients.

This newly established role, funded by the Cancer Alliance, is designed to enhance the prehabilitation services at our facility, working collaboratively with a Prehabilitation Dietitian and Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who thrives in a team environment, demonstrates flexibility and diligence, and is eager to contribute to a pioneering AHP service aimed at optimally preparing patients for their forthcoming cancer treatments.

The successful candidate will become part of a well-established team of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and AHP Assistants.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 10 months, with the possibility of ongoing funding in the future. We are also open to considering part-time hours. Internal candidates may be eligible for a secondment.

Our core values are Inclusion, Respect, and Improvement. It is essential that you understand and embody these values throughout the recruitment process and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering high-quality patient care across our services, primarily focusing on prehabilitation.

Executing all clinical responsibilities independently, while receiving support through regular informal and formal supervision.

Conducting routine assessments and treatments for patients diagnosed with cancer across various AHP disciplines. This includes providing guidance, facilitating referrals, and leading educational sessions.

Collaborating closely with all members of the AHP Service, the broader Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), and external organizations to enhance patient care and experience.

Assisting the AHP Team with non-clinical responsibilities, such as managing patient appointments, aiding in data collection, and performing general administrative tasks.

Contributing to AHP education initiatives, including presenting at orientation programs and in-service training sessions.

We recognize that embarking on a new job is a significant life choice. If you require reasonable adjustments due to a disability or a life event, such as menopause, please inform us so we can ensure a fair application process and help you perform at your best during the selection process.

We are dedicated to promoting a positive work-life balance for our employees. Staff members are encouraged to explore flexible working arrangements, and we are committed to considering all requests. While such requests must be formally made and evaluated against service needs, our initial approach will always be to support their implementation.

Job Responsibilities

Our organization is focused on maintaining and expanding the staff at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre as we transition into an exciting new phase.

We welcome applications from individuals who are enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the development of our cancer services, building upon the excellent reputation, research, and patient experiences that the Cancer Centre currently provides.

Additionally, you will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, with a minimum payment of £4,314 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum, pro rata.
