About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and committed individual to join our team as a Deputy Manager in a BRAND NEW children's residential service in Chudleigh Knighton, Newton Abbot.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Encouraging young people to take responsibility for their own lives and participate in activities.
  • Supporting the manager and team in all aspects of day-to-day operations, including staff management, budgets, and ensuring quality of service meets expected care standards.
  • Maintaining a homely and friendly culture and environment in the homes.
  • Dealing with challenging behaviors when necessary.
  • Protecting children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Supporting the children and young people in the home and promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems, and preferred methods of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behavior safely and sympathetically.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.
  • Organizing and participating in activities and holidays, ensuring risk assessments have been followed.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker/Team Leader within a similar social care setting or with young people.
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People or equivalent.
  • A full UK manual driving license, due to the nature of the role, you may be required to transport the young people.
  • Knowledge of Children Homes Regulations and Safeguarding.
