We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Service Manager specializing in Substance Misuse to join our Offender Health Directorate.

The role is based in a facility that accommodates a significant number of individuals, focusing on their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society. The establishment features dedicated healthcare facilities along with versatile spaces for group and individual sessions.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the service delivery and provide leadership to the Substance Misuse Team within the correctional environment.

You will manage the daily operations and ensure the effective functioning of a multidisciplinary team that caters to a diverse range of patients facing substance misuse challenges, including detoxification needs and medication management.

In this role, you will lead and coordinate a team of healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive clinical and psychosocial support to patients with various health concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Working in prison healthcare is dynamic and fulfilling. Each day presents unique challenges and opportunities for growth as a qualified professional. As the Service Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Substance Misuse pathway and supervising the staff involved in patient care. Your team will include mental health nurses, general practitioners, psychosocial practitioners, psychologists, and pharmacy technicians, all working collaboratively to provide assessments, diagnoses, support, and care for patients with ongoing and acute health and substance misuse issues. The team will also engage in medication administration, one-on-one care, case management, and group therapy.

The Substance Misuse service operates seven days a week, and our healthcare team has established strong working relationships with the correctional facility, as evidenced by positive feedback from regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Current professional registration in nursing (RMN/RGN), social work, or equivalent.
  • A Master's degree or a commitment to pursue one.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.

Desirable

  • Mentorship qualification.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Proven experience in managing teams and substance misuse services.
  • Strong performance management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of care provision for patients with complex substance misuse needs.
  • Extensive background in clinical and psychosocial substance misuse services.
  • Experience working within the criminal justice system.
