Leicestershire, United Kingdom Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

Are you ready to embark on a rewarding journey within the NHS? Consider the dynamic field of prison healthcare.

An exceptional opportunity is available for a Substance Misuse Specialist to become part of the Offender Health Directorate at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C Resettlement Prison.

HMP Fosse Way accommodates 1,715 inmates, focusing on offender rehabilitation and their reintegration into society. The facility comprises 7 housing blocks spread over 4 floors, featuring a dedicated healthcare suite and additional multi-purpose rooms for group sessions and individual consultations.

Your role will involve delivering a comprehensive substance misuse through-care service for inmates, starting from their entry into the prison system to their transition back into the community, with the aim of reducing re-offending and enhancing the health and social functioning of prisoners.

We are committed to providing high-quality patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment for individuals facing substance misuse challenges, while adhering to both harm reduction and health promotion/recovery principles.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage a caseload of complex and challenging patients, offering a substance misuse through-care service from the moment they enter the prison system until their reintegration into the community. Your efforts will contribute to decreasing re-offending rates and improving the overall health and social functioning of the patients.

As a member of a dedicated and passionate Substance Misuse Team, you will deliver exceptional patient care through comprehensive assessments, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for individuals with substance misuse issues, focusing on harm reduction and health promotion/recovery agendas.

You will also provide mentorship to junior staff, upholding professional standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures to guarantee the delivery of top-notch care.

The Substance Misuse Team operates within the Healthcare Department, which also encompasses Mental Health and Physical Health services, all collaborating to offer a holistic package of patient care.
