Leicestershire, United Kingdom Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

Are you seeking a rewarding opportunity within the NHS? Have you ever thought about the unique challenges of healthcare in correctional facilities?

We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Service Coordinator in Substance Misuse, joining the Offender Health Directorate.

The facility supports a diverse population and emphasizes rehabilitation and reintegration into society. It features multiple housing units and a dedicated healthcare suite, along with additional rooms for group and individual sessions.

In this role, you will oversee the delivery of services and provide leadership to the Substance Misuse Team within the correctional environment.

You will manage the daily operations of a multidisciplinary team that addresses a varied caseload of individuals facing substance misuse challenges, including detoxification needs and medication management.

Your leadership will guide a team of healthcare professionals in delivering comprehensive clinical and psychosocial support to patients with diverse health concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Working in prison healthcare is dynamic and fulfilling. Each day presents new challenges and experiences for qualified professionals. As the Service Coordinator, you will manage the Substance Misuse pathway and supervise the staff involved in patient care. Your team will include mental health nurses, general practitioners, psychosocial practitioners, psychologists, and pharmacy technicians, all collaborating to provide assessments, diagnoses, support, harm reduction, and care for patients with ongoing and acute health and substance misuse issues. The team also administers medications, provides one-on-one care, manages cases, and conducts group sessions.

The Substance Misuse service operates seven days a week, and the healthcare team has established strong relationships with the correctional facility, as noted in recent evaluations.

About Us

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust employs over 11,000 dedicated professionals who strive to make a positive impact daily. We provide a range of services, including mental health, community health, forensic, and offender healthcare across various regions. Our services are delivered from numerous locations, including community settings and secure environments.

As one of the largest mental health and community trusts in the East Midlands, we also host specialized national and regional services. We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace through various employee-led networks focused on equality, diversity, and well-being.

The health and well-being of our staff is a top priority, supported by comprehensive occupational health and counseling services.

Job Responsibilities

This role is crucial in leading and coordinating a high-quality, safe, and efficient service tailored to the needs of the patient population within the correctional facility.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading effective Substance Misuse services that meet established standards.
  • Demonstrating innovative practices while collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain clinical effectiveness.
  • Ensuring the service remains competitive as a provider of choice for local commissioners.

The Offender Health Directorate is a prominent provider of prison healthcare in the UK, delivering comprehensive physical, mental health, and substance misuse services across multiple facilities.

We work closely with prison services and other partners in the criminal justice system to enhance health outcomes and reduce re-offending behaviors. Our team is dedicated to providing consistent, high-quality care that aligns with services available outside of prison.
