Lead Cost Consultant - Infrastructure Projects


This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Lead Cost Consultant to join a prominent SME contractor in the south east of England.

The position will primarily focus on overseeing the financial aspects of newly secured infrastructure projects, including Rail, Civil Engineering, and Building developments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee project budgets, ensuring effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct thorough cost planning, procurement processes, and change management.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Monitor and manage variations, valuations, and final accounts for both clients and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with project teams to provide insightful cost advice and feasibility assessments.
  • Perform regular site visits and inspections to track progress and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Prepare and submit detailed progress reports, financial statements, and necessary documentation.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities within the project scope.
  • Engage with clients and maintain regular communication with commercial counterparts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the construction sector.
  • Experience in the Rail sector, particularly in Building refurbishments and general Civil Engineering.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office, along with excellent report writing skills.
