Tax Transformation Senior Manager

We are seeking an experienced Tax Transformation Senior Manager to join our team at KPMG-UnitedKingdom. As a key member of our Global Compliance & Transformation (GCT) team, you will play a critical role in helping multinational groups and financial services clients manage their global tax compliance, reporting, and statutory accounting obligations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the overall delivery of tax transformation and technology projects, often as part of a wider finance transformation program.
- Understand clients' priorities and design, build, and deploy automation solutions that are tailored to their tax needs.
- Support clients in designing systems that address tax requirements in different countries in the optimal way.
- Work collaboratively with Tax Transformation and GCT colleagues, as well as other teams in KPMG, such as Consulting.
- Help clients develop robust global governance and control frameworks.
- Develop our service offerings and service delivery models.
- Identify opportunities to provide additional services that clients may need and liaise with subject specialists.
- Establish and maintain strong client relationships.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Take personal responsibility and accountability for own work, sustain high levels of drive and enthusiasm.
- Performance manage managers and assistant managers and oversee the output from offshore resources to deliver client projects.
- Ensure projects are appropriately resourced and utilized efficiently.
- Develop the team technically, providing stretching opportunities and giving regular feedback.

- Across GCT, we welcome applications from those qualified by experience, as well as ATT/CTA/ACA or equivalent qualifications.
- Project Management qualifications along with specific transformation skills (Lean Six Sigma) are also welcome.
- Hands-on experience of working in SAP finance and controlling modules.
- Strong and practical ERP finance and tax experience of configuring SAP S4 HANA.
- Experience of integrating VAT determination engines and bolt-ons.
- Knowledge of implementing tax determination tools such as Vertex O-Series, Thomson Reuters OneSource Determination, or Meridian VAT Add-On.
- Hands-on tax technology implementation experience, including requirements gathering from a tax, IT, and users and creating and reviewing design documentation.
- Awareness of technology and automation to drive efficiency, risk management, and value.
- Experience in process, risk, and controls design.
- Experience of delivering large-scale SAP ECC and S/4 HANA finance and tax transformation implementations.
- Able to understand key tax requirements and translate those into SAP system design specifications.
- Practical knowledge and understanding of implementing SAP global tax management solutions like Tax Compliance, Document Reporting, and Compliance.
- Should be able to suggest practical solutions for setting up intercompany billing processes to support operational transfer pricing requirements.
- Should have an understanding of GL accounting, financial close, and material ledgers.
- Preferably have an understanding of SAP Profitability and Performance Analysis (PaPM) module to implement tax use cases.
- Must have experience of reviewing the SAP native tax configurations and suggesting any improvements and remedial plans.
- Experience in designing tax transformation and technology roadmaps and translating into a transformation program.
- Ability to support tax transformation workshops - identifying and prioritizing key pain points, developing, and supporting the implementation of technology roadmaps.
- Ability to define business requirements and translate to supporting functional/non-functional requirement gathering and creating and reviewing design documentation, for example, BFRDs, Solution Design Document, Architecture Mapping.
- Acting as a functionality translator, being the primary liaison between technology teams and tax teams.
- Deep tax compliance, reporting, and/or automation expertise.
- Tax transformation experience, including tax governance, process design, and improvement.
- Strong understanding of key drivers in the tax transformation market, be that BEPS Pillar 2, Making Tax Digital, E-Invoicing, etc.
- Experience in supporting clients on business case development for transformation projects.
- Experience in managing workstreams on large-scale tax change programs, coordinating across multiple project areas (op model, process design, technology implementation, architecture, project management/change management, etc.).
- Ability to undertake technology scorecard and vendor assessments, presenting findings and recommendations back to clients in a clear and defined manner.
- Awareness or experience of tax and accounting compliance processes (Direct/Indirect tax returns, statutory accounting).
- Designing or implementing cloud-based practical applications from a tax perspective.
- Acting as a functionality translator, being the primary liaison between technology teams and tax teams.
- Understanding of group tax reporting processes and experience with current state process review and design of new/updated processes for multinational groups.
- Knowledge of the third-party tax provision solution market for IFRS groups and exposure to the benefits and drawbacks of the major solutions.
- Practical hands-on experience with the end-to-end implementation of at least one established third-party tax provision solution, ideally Longview Tax Provision, Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision, or Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud; alternatively, highly experienced users/administrators of existing builds of these systems who wish to gain implementation experience will be considered.
- Experience of taking a leading role on projects involving technology implementation or change.
- Capable project manager.
- Functional knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP tax accounting, including tax consolidation.
- Awareness of drivers for change in group tax reporting processes, including the interaction between tax provision and BEPS Pillar 2.
- Experience of helping groups to build a business case for tax reporting transformation.
- Professional accounting or tax qualification and/or experience working in an in-house tax team with tax reporting responsibilities.
- Exposure to popular ERP and consolidation systems (SAP, Oracle/HFM, Workday, Dynamics 365, etc.) would be an advantage.
