Objective of the Role

The successful candidate will possess the capability to adapt across various professional areas within the ICT department.

The individual will participate in or assist with projects and initiatives aligned with the Council's key objectives, ensuring that the designated outcomes are achieved within the specified timeframe.

The role requires effective and timely reporting to management and relevant stakeholders regarding the progress of managed projects, along with fostering robust stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

This position involves delivering ICT services throughout the Council, facilitating transformational change through technology to enhance service efficiency and quality.

Additionally, the role will contribute to the formulation of policies, procedures, and practices related to ICT service delivery and transformational initiatives. This includes developing Council policies informed by best practices and technological advancements.

Specific tasks that an ICT Officer may undertake include (depending on experience level):

Drafting and finalizing service and development terms of reference, along with other necessary documentation. Conducting project research, interpreting findings, and integrating these into the documentation. Collaborating on projects and developments with colleagues, which may have implications across various Council departments. The scope of the project will be determined by the individual's skills and experience. Taking on responsibilities as a team member for the assurance and management of ICT services, including resolving service issues through discussions with end users and suppliers, and implementing improvements to ICT service processes affecting multiple users. Supporting senior staff in managing relationships between business units and the ICT service, ensuring alignment of the ICT work program with business needs, advocating for further investment, and leveraging ICT to drive transformational change within business units. Assisting in the management of cross-departmental procurement initiatives, in collaboration with senior personnel and the Central Procurement Team, to ensure successful outcomes with ICT vendors. Conducting feasibility assessments of ICT systems utilized by the Council, evaluating them, identifying areas for enhancement, and proposing improvements based on findings.
