Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom City of Edinburgh Council Full time

Job Overview

Location: City of Edinburgh

Position: Traffic Management Officer
Organization: City of Edinburgh Council

Salary Range: £36,000 - £42,000
Weekly Hours: 36

An exceptional opportunity has emerged within the Network Management and Enforcement division for the permanent recruitment of a full-time Traffic Management Officer within the Council's Parking Operations team. This role is vital within the Parking and Traffic Regulation service area, and the ideal candidate will be driven, enthusiastic, and capable of managing a diverse and demanding workload.

The primary responsibilities of the post holder will include assisting in the administration of the Council's various traffic enforcement initiatives, which encompass Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE), Bus Lane Camera Enforcement, and the enforcement of the new Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in the city.

Additionally, the post holder will be tasked with supporting the management of the Council's Decriminalised Parking Services contract, which includes a range of customer-facing services such as on-street parking enforcement, vehicle removals, maintenance of signage and road markings, parking permits, and payment services. Responsibilities for contract management will also cover the integrated ICT systems that facilitate all parking, bus lane, and LEZ enforcement operations.

While the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to all aforementioned services, this role will particularly emphasize LEZ operations within the city. Responsibilities will span all facets of LEZ management, from overseeing operations and associated contracts to project managing the installation of new enforcement technologies and cameras. The post holder will also oversee customer communications and prepare briefing notes and reports for committee discussions regarding LEZ matters, as required by elected officials. Furthermore, the post holder will be accountable for the statutory reporting of LEZ data and finances, liaising with and benchmarking against other Scottish Councils operating LEZs, and conducting relevant analyses of LEZ operations to identify trends and recommend enhancements.

The ideal candidate should possess experience in leading teams and/or projects. They must demonstrate a high level of accuracy and the ability to prioritize effectively to meet demanding deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a proven track record in managing and resolving challenging customer interactions.

We welcome applications from candidates who believe they possess the requisite skills and experience.
