Job Title: Traffic Operations Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Operations Manager to lead and support our Control Room Operators in delivering day-to-day Traffic Scotland services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a Control Room Team, monitoring the Scottish Trunk Road Network, and responding to traffic incidents and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct management of a Control Room Team
  • Monitoring the Scottish Trunk Road Network
  • Using CCTV & ITS systems
  • Responding to traffic incidents and events
  • Answering emergency roadside telephones
  • Keeping the public advised via lane control signal units, variable message signs, websites, and social media
  • Recording and logging events and activities carried out within the control room

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience of working as a Control Room Manager in an operational setting inclusive of leading a Control Room Team.
  • HNC qualification or relevant experience – desirable.
  • Continually seek to identify / implement measures and/or processes to improve Control Room efficiency and/or operational functionality.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering and maintaining KPIs.
  • Experience in the use and operation of Incident Management Systems.
  • Awareness of Social Media protocols and tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver a high level of customer service
  • Ability to collaborate effectively at all levels
  • Organisational skills, able to effectively prioritise and multi-task
  • Problem-solver and solutions-oriented to improve process and achieve results
  • Flexible and adaptable to support service delivery

Additional Information:

This role will be full-time, including nightshifts and working on public holidays, and based on 12-hour shifts including weekend working. This position requires the person to cover for team absence and where there is a requirement for additional cover within the control room. This requires the person to be flexible and work different shift patterns dependant on the service requirements. There will be a requirement to work additional hours, on an enhanced basis, on occasion to support the operational service such as during severe weather events, major events, etc.
