About The Role

Motability Operations is seeking a highly skilled Data Analytics Director to lead and drive our data strategy and foster a culture of data excellence across the organization.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and grow the data function both within Technology and across the organization, ensuring that the business has the platforms and skillsets required to best leverage data and the right governance and ownership frameworks are in place.

The Data Analytics Director will be responsible for:

  1. Developing, executing, and championing a comprehensive data strategy aligned with Motability Operations' objectives and technology strategy.
  2. Establishing and maintaining a data governance and ownership framework, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and promoting data quality and integrity across the organization.
  3. Ensuring that Motability Operations has access to cutting-edge data analytics capabilities, including the platforms, tools, and resources required to analyze and generate insights from complex data sets.
  4. Enabling local team adoption and use of new analytics tools and platforms.
  5. Assessing, implementing, and managing data tools, software, and infrastructure to support the company's data requirements.
  6. Staying updated with emerging technologies and trends in data science, analytics, and business intelligence to drive continuous improvement.
  7. Assessing and building ML and AI foundational capabilities in Motability Operations.
  8. Working in collaboration with Security & Legal to ensure all data handling processes adhere to industry best practices and legal requirements.
  9. Working with Security & Legal to document and implement data privacy and security policies, including robust data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information.
  10. Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) for data and analytics initiatives, monitoring progress and success metrics regularly.
  11. Creating and communicating updates on data-related performance, highlighting successes, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
  12. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering product development, data scientists across Motability Operations.
  13. Data advocating for Motability Operations, encouraging and driving data literacy and the adoption of data and analytics across the organization.
  14. Preparing and managing the Data and Analytics department budget, controlling expenses, and optimizing spending while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
  15. Managing department suppliers appropriately, ensuring value for money, and the timely delivery of services, aligning to the technology and company procurement and supplier strategy requirements.
  16. Leading, mentoring, and inspiring the Data and Analytics team, ensuring team members have the necessary resources and support to excel in their roles.
  17. Fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration within the team and across departments.
  18. Defining ways of working and standards for Data and Analytics in Motability Operations technology.
  19. Working with key partners in the business to define ways of working and build up a consistent approach to Data and Analytics.
  20. Building new Data and Analytics capabilities where there are gaps in the existing organization.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven track record of senior leadership role(s) within data analytics.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Extensive expertise in data management, data modeling, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations, as well as experience implementing data governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Leadership qualities, including strategic thinking, influencing, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion for innovation, entrepreneurial mindset, and strong commitment to driving positive change through data and analytics.
